Two weeks of hectic work

Two weeks ago, our DBA did an upgrade of the Production Database from Oracle v9.1.0.4 to v9.2.0.8, things went haywire after that. The 1st night of the batch cycle run no end till 24hrs later.

Since then, the customer had been complaining...me, being the SPOC was lectured and ticked of by them, as well as my boss and boss' boss. It was a pretty bad situation. Day and night, our guys had to rotate to troubleshoot the issue during the night batch, whatever tuning that can be done. At one point, they even thought of rolling back the patch, but was decided not to, who knows, by rolling back, there may even be more surprises!

Well, after 2 weeks of facts finding and tuning, Oracle came back and told our team that there's this '_unnested_subquery' setting that should be set in the init.ora file, then bounce the Database, it should be fine. Hmm...ever since then, the system performance seems to be back to normal, but, we still have to monitor.

I haven't got much sleep for the past weeks, and I had to work these weekends to prepare for an audit on Monday, so tiring man, I need more rest...
